From the President

2012 was a great year for CollegeSource, and the 2012 User Conference and Training Workshop was no small part of it. Users have no idea how much work goes into the conference, and that’s as it should be. We want you all to learn new things, connect with each other, and simply enjoy the conference. Which means we, the staff of CollegeSource, have to show up fresh, fully-prepared, and excited to play host. To accomplish that feat, the entire staff spends more than a month getting ready for the event so that you have our full attention on day 1 and throughout the week. (Select staff began preparing for the 2013 conference mere days after the 2012 conference!)
With just weeks to go, there is an air of quiet confidence around the CollegeSource offices that comes from knowing we accomplished our key missions this year, on time and well before presenters begin putting together their presentations. We can’t wait to show you what we have been doing with our time and talents.
Things to watch for at this year’s conference:

  • We have reimagined u.select® and rebuilt it from the ground up. That work is ongoing, as we expected it to be, but we will be showing off the new student (and student-tested!) interface at the conference, outlining the plans for staff tools, and generally giving an overview of how the project will proceed from this point to the rollout in 2014.
  • TES has undergone a fundamental transformation in the way equivalency data is stored. It was quite a feat to tinker with the system’s underlying data structures without disrupting service, destroying client data already in the system, or undermining the system’s integrity. We will be highlighting the implications of date ranging at the conference, as well some custom projects of interest.
  • As promised in the 2012 conference, we have delivered on planning-from-the-audit for u.direct®, as well as added another exciting new utility for students. (Yes, I know that’s vague, but I can’t spill all the beans before the conference.)
  • Two year’s ago I stated in the opening session of the conference that we intended to return u.achieve® to the “premier audit” status. While we listened to users and used last year to focus on addressing any remaining consistency and reliability challenges, we still managed to add some great new reporting features to the product. More than ever we hear from national conference attendees (including those “stuck” with other degree audits) that our audit has more meaningful features than any other in the market. We are excited and feel that u.achieve’s time has come. We added a number of new clients this year and interest in u.achieve is growing at a more rapid pace than ever before.

These are just a few of achievements that we will celebrate at this year’s conference. For those of you who are unable to attend and share the excitement with us, we will be repeating some of the key sessions in a condensed form in the months following the event. Watch this newsletter for times and dates!
