The Catalog Preservation Project
The first and only comprehensive collection of college catalogs in the nation is about to get a lot bigger. In addition to the thousands of newer catalogs we add to the online database each year, CollegeSource has recently acquired a collection of older catalogs and will be stretching its holdings to include an additional 6,000 volumes dating from the late 1800's to the mid 1970's.
As a preview, we will be putting up some interesting selections from this massive collection. Watch for titles like the North Carolina College for Negroes 1930-1940, Georgetown catalogs from the WWI years, or the Haverford College from 1861-1875 (from the American Civil War through the Restoration).
Each catalog offers an interesting snapshot into the life of a university and contains fascinating details like, complete curriculum descriptions, degree offerings and program compositions, faculty listings, mission statements, and more. We look forward to sharing these catalogs with our users and hope others will find them as remarkable as we do.
